I have represented individuals accused of DUIs for over 20 years in courts throughout Washington state.  My clients have faced charges ranging from first time offenses to cases involving multiple priors with breath readings several times the legal limit and serious accidents.  I am experienced with the wide range of issues that come up with DUIs including court proceedings, trials, motions, license suspension, ignition interlock, alcohol treatment, and  attacking the validity and admissibility of breath and blood test readings.

DUI defense requires an attorney who is dedicated to fighting  for the rights of the individual.  The experiences that I had while growing up led me to become an attorney dedicated to advocating for the rights of individual people. My parents divorced at a young age and I was raised in New York and Massachusetts by my mother in a single-parent household. Finances were limited and making ends meet was often a challenge.   I also encountered racism.    As an attorney I draw on my own experiences with injustice as motivation to fight for the rights of my clients.

During college at the University of Massachusetts I became involved with human rights advocacy issues such as working to end the apartheid system that used to exist in South Africa, as well as environmental concerns to preserve the ecosystem from exploitation by corporate polluters. After college I moved west to Seattle and worked for a year for the environmental organization Greenpeace before graduating from law school at the University of Washington. After law school I worked as a public defender, and also worked for a plaintiff’s attorney who represented injured people before starting my own law practice. I have managed my own law practice in the Seattle area since about 1996. I am also a graduate of the renowned Trial Lawyer’s College taught by nationally known trial attorney Gerry Spence. The Trial Lawyers College is an intensive course dedicated to improving the skills of trial attorneys who fight for the rights of individual people.  I am admitted to practice law in Washington State and in the United States District Court of the Western District of Washington.
